Scholarship Application

DUE DATE:               The completed application must be returned to the

                                    School by November 14, 2008.

 

SECTION I:               Complete Section I by typing or printing on the

application. Sign the application and have a parent or guardian sign the application. The name of the Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Lt. Governor, and Division number will be

completed by the local Kiwanis club.

 

SECTION II:              Section II is to be typed or printed on separate

paper(s) in the requested format, and attached to Section I. Please put your name at the top of each page(s), followed on the next line by the name of your high school.

 

 

There are 20 scholarships of $600.00 each available to sophomores in

Texas and Oklahoma. Each winner will receive a plaque and a letter of

congratulations. The winners will receive their scholarships after

graduating from high school and upon enrollment in an institution of higher learning.

On separate paper, provide the requested information to item 1.  Then answer items 2-4 in no more than one, double-spaced page or less per item, and attach to the application. At the top of each page, type or print, your name followed on the next line by the name of your high school   

 

  1. List the clubs and organizations of which you are, or have been a member, and offices you have held.  Briefly discuss an office or organization that has been especially meaningful to you.

 

2.   How have you demonstrated LEADERSHIP ABILITY? Leadership may be defined as the ability to motivate others into action (Examples of demonstrating leadership are: Success in a youth organization, student government, school and community organizations, participation in athletic, dance, fine arts, effectively communicating to others either orally or in writing, by reaching others, etc.)

 

3.   How have you shown the DESIRE TO LEARN AND SHARE KNOWLEDGE

AND EXPERIENCE with others?  (Examples of these desires are:  asking questions and volunteering answers, joining discussion groups that are not required, researching a topic on your own and offering to share your discovery with others, etc).

           

4.   Volunteering or “serving” our community is an important aspect of the Kiwanis organization.  Do you feel there is a need for young people, like yourself, to be involved in service to your community?  Why or why not?
